“Three things in human life are important: the first is to be kind; the second is to be kind; and the third is to be kind.”
– Henry James
I will admit, I woke up a bit excited this morning. With a slight spring in my step, I hopped all the way to work (and was even early, much to the surprise of many!).
I quickly realized that Mondays are never a good time – especially Mondays after a long weekend! I myself usually have to drink five coffees before anyone is allowed to speak to me.
So I decided to bestow the noblest of gifts upon my disgruntled colleagues: the gift of free caffeine.
I scribbled a quick note, stuck a dollar to it, snuck into the lunchroom and taped it onto the vending machine.
It was a quick job; I was pretty anxious about someone walking in on me. I envision myself as a sort of “kindness ninja” – not keen on explaining to my colleagues or friends about my “project.”
As the rest of my day went on, I glanced over at the vending machine as I casually strolled through the lunchroom. Finally, around 4:00 p.m., it was gone.
