#8 Help end world hunger (from the comfort of your couch).

I woke up today feeling crappy again; my body feels sluggish and uncooperative.

As such, I have created a makeshift cocoon on my couch and have been eating ramen noodles and marathoning Teen Mom 2 all day (#guiltypleasure #noshame).

Not wanting to leave the cocoon, I had to get creative about my act of kindness today. I begrudgingly put Teen Mom 2 on pause, wiped the ramen noodles off my chin and consulted Google for a solution.

In my search, I stumbled across www.freerice.com. I’m always suspicious of these types of websites, but as I read the FAQ section, the premise is quite simple (and clever):

You play a trivia game, and for every correct answer, 10 grains of rice are donated to the World Food Programme. This is made possible by the sponsors who post their ads on the website.

The vocabulary trivia game is mind-numbingly simple at first, but actually gets increasingly challenging and addictive as you continue!  In total, I donated 1560 grains of rice.

I’m going to put a reminder in my calendar to do this on a regular basis. I mean, it’s really a win-win no matter how you swing it. I get to practice my vocabulary skills while donating to a great cause – without even having to put pants on. Huzzah!

Total Kindness Cost: $0

P.S. Bawdy = obscene.
P.P.S. I encourage you to mosey on over to www.freerice.com and give it a whirl!

  1. Your post have inspired me to research the : Effects of philanthropy, food programs. The nature of intents of those who involve themselves in those programs. The programs themselves. Thank you.
