I am currently enjoying my 29th birthday in the Windy City, taking in the sights and eating my weight in deep-dish pizza. I can’t imagine a better way to ring in “the last good year of my life.” (Just kidding. Kinda.)
A few years ago, on the heels of breaking off my engagement just a month before my non-refundable wedding, I did what any 26-year old going through an existential crisis would do: I went out with my best friend for $3 shots at a seedy university club.
Grappling with the realities of my breakup (and my $15,000 wedding debt), I drunkenly swayed to Beyonce’s “Drunk in Love” propped up by the chiseled arms of the kind 21-year-old frat boy trying his best to convince me that his three roommates would FOR SURE be out of town that night. As I become more comfortable with the person I am – and with the life I’ve built – with each passing day, I am no longer as petrified of the colloquially termed “dirty 30.”
But nevertheless, there are many things I want to accomplish as I prepare myself to pass this threshold. And what better way to organize all the things I want to accomplish before I’m 30 than with a list! So here we go:
